Melrose Open Air Arts March 10-20, 2010

From March 10th through 20th, Bellamy Road Fine Arts, Melrose Bay Art Gallery, and Shake Rag Artists’ Collective will host the 4th Annual Melrose Open Air Arts. This year Alachua Conservation Trust was selected as the beneficiary of the event. Sixty-five artists from around Florida will gather together to work for 10 days in and around Melrose, creating art inspired by the area’s natural beauty, conservation lands, and cultural treasures. Please join us for the Gala Opening Reception and come watch the artists at work in our natural environment.

A special preview reception for ACT supporters, Melrose Bay Art Gallery Patrons, and Open Air Arts Sponsors will be held Saturday, March 20, from 4 to 6pm.

The Gala Opening Reception for the event will be Saturday, March 20, from 6 to 10 pm.

Artists will be working lakeside on Saturday, March 13, from 1-5pm, and will be painting at Prairie Creek Ranch and Tuscawilla Preserve throughout the week!

Stop by the galleries to pick up a catalog and maps to various artists sites. The show will run through April.

Please consider participating in the 4th Annual Open Air Arts Purchase Award program!
A Purchase Award allows an art patron to be the “judge” - that is, to select a piece of art worthy of commendation. The piece you select as “winner” will have an award certificate, with your name or business name, placed next to the artwork for the duration of the show.  At the completion of Open Air Arts, your award choice will become yours for your business or your personal collection. You will be able to preview the entire show at a special Preview Reception on March 20 and make your selection before the art sales are open to the public.

Purchase Award Sponsors will also be listed on rosters to be displayed at the Gallery locations: Bellamy Road Gallery, Melrose Bay Gallery, and Shake Rag Artists’ Collective for the duration of the show through the end of April.

Purchase awards begin at $50 and increase to any amount you wish. If you wish to select a piece that is more than the pledge you have made, you simply pay the difference. With 65 participating artists, we expect over 200 works of art representing a wide range of prices at our exhibition.

The deadline to commit to giving a Purchase Award is March 15, 2010.
