Spring Classes at ACT Preserves

ACT is planning a full calendar for the this spring that will include environmental education classes about birds, ecology of Florida, natural history, and insects and is looking for great people to help us hold even more classes at our preserves. Check back for updates to our environmental education schedule.
Saturday, February 27, 8am - Alachua Audubon Society Trip to Tuscawilla Preserve
Led by Ivor Kincaide, ACT’s Land Manager
*This class will meet at the Sweetbay parking lot (2002 Southwest 34th Street) at 8am to carpool to Tuscawilla Preserve
Saturday, March 6, 8am - Alachua Audubon Society Trip to Prairie Creek Preserve
Led by Ivor Kincaide, ACT’s Land Manager
*This class will meet at Powers Park at 8am to carpool to Prairie Creek Preserve
Saturday, March 27, 10am - Trees, Flowers, Ferns, & Pollinators at Blues Creek Ravine
Led by Meg Neiderhofer, Gainesville City Arborist
Edible and Medicinal Plants at Prairie Creek Preserve has been canceled and will be rescheduled for May
Led by Rick Stepp, University of Florida Professor of Anthropology
Saturday, May 15, 10am - Ecosystems of Florida at Prairie Creek Preserve
Led by Linda Tyson, Santa Fe College Professor of Biology

To get to Prairie Creek Preserve, travel east out of Gainesville on Hawthorne Road (Highway 20) and turn right on CR 2082. Parking is located at the intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234.
