FALL MIGRATION COUNT

From Calendar: ACT Events & Activities

Location: Prairie Creek Preserve

From: September 17, 2016 at 7:00am to: 12:00pm

Details:

WHAT
The North American Migration Count (NAMC) is a contintent-wide survey designed to assess and map migrating bird populations in the spring and fall. The main goal of the NAMC is to provide data to decision makers on conservation issues pertaining to seasonal bird movements.
We will be scouring Prairie Creek Preserve all morning for migrating birds, going off-trail most of the time. Comfy rubber boots are necessary since we will be walking long distances through wet and soggy terrain. Mosquitos will be abundant. Fall is great time to bird in central Florida because migrating birds pass through Florida in larger numbers on their way back to Central and South America.

WHAT TO BRING
Binoculars a must, long pants and shirt, and rubber boots are NEEDED. Bug spray will help. Also bring snacks and plenty of water.
