Conservation Opportunities
ACT works to protect ecologically sensitive lands and places of historical significance. As the urgency for the conservation of natural lands increases, so do our efforts to protect Florida’s natural environment. These are some of the tools we use to protect land:
ACT directly acquires land outright. The property may then be transferred to another entity or entities for management as conservation lands, or we will work to transition the property into an ACT-owned and managed public preserve or park.
ACT assists with the facilitation of conserving land by helping landowners apply for competitive funding, often providing valuable services to local, state, or federal government agencies, as a designated landowner representative. ACT works with State and Federal programs like Florida Forever, the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program, and the Agricultural Land Easement Conservation Program, as well as local programs like Alachua County Forever and Volusia Forever.
ACT assists private landowners with protecting their properties in perpetuity through a Conservation Easement.
When ACT is unable to buy land outright, seeing the property purchased by a conservation-minded buyer is another option for protecting the land.

ACT Acquisition Projects
Below are the projects for which ACT is currently seeking support from the general public and grantors. This list is a small sampling of the conservation work that ACT undertakes each day and represents the projects where financial support is needed most. Conservation Buyers
Below are properties that would be ideal for those who are looking to purchase land for the purpose of preserving and protecting it in its natural state. These properties are owned privately and are not being sold by ACT. A buyer who recognizes the ecological importance of these properties and would simply like to see them remain as they are is key to ongoing efforts to protect as much land as possible in North Central Florida.
