Guided Upper Santa Fe River Paddle with Lars Andersen

Join us for a guided paddle on the Upper Santa Fe River to ACT’s Santa Fe Springs Preserve. We will paddle up the Santa Fe River towards Olustee Creek and visit the second-magnitude spring, Santa Fe Spring, before returning to our launch location. The scenery on the river is spectacular year round and we should see some wildlife. We will be led by local guide and Florida Master Naturalist Lars Andersen of Adventure Outpost.

WHAT TO BRING

Bug spray, sunscreen, hat, water, snacks or lunch, and a sense of adventure. Watercraft and life jacket will be provided by Adventure Outpost if you are renting or you are welcome to bring your own.

WHEN

Saturday, May 4th

9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

WHERE

We will meet at Bible Camp Road Boat Ramp (Google Maps) at 9:00 AM and launch around 9:30 AM.

ABOUT SANTA FE SPRINGS PRESERVE

At the confluence of Olustee Creek and the Santa Fe River sits 254 acres, two freshwater springs, and 1.3 river miles of pure Florida. Tall live oaks, cypress trees, blossoming chickasaw plums and native azaleas dot the river banks and steep bluffs of Santa Fe Springs Preserve. Large alligators, wading birds, turtles, catfish, garfish and other water creatures can be found along and in the river within the vicinity of the preserve. Tucked in the forest is a small, unnamed fourth magnitude seepage spring. Found above the river, secluded under the trees, with a flow that trickles down the banks into the waiting river, the spring gurgles and glistens in the filtered sunlight. Learn more here.
