Finnian Covey-Shannon

Finnian is a senior studying at the University of Florida studying sustainability studies, cultural anthropology, and public ethics. His interests include storytelling and art. He has a deep, lifelong love and appreciation for nature and for people. Finnian hopes to go on to work in sustainable community building with a focus on stewardship of and accessibility to greenspaces. Enamored with the smallest details of the natural world, his interest is peaked by fungi, mosses, and lichens. Above all, Finnian is excited and grateful for the opportunity to deepen his knowledge and appreciation for the natural world and its conservation.


Caitlyn Cherro

Caitlyn comes to ACT as an intern new to Gainesville. She is pursuing a Bachelors in Forest Resources Conservation at the University of Florida. Originally from Minnesota, Caitlyn is excited to learn about Florida’s unique ecology and management strategies. In her spare time, she loves to hike, play with her dog, and read books.


Preston Ballard

Preston has a love for all things related to nature and is currently working to achieve a Bachelors’ degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Since early 2019, as a sophomore in high school, Preston has been passionate about birding and wildlife photography and is now working to gain experience in a field where he can blend his work life and passion for nature.
