Parking Lot Description

The main trailhead is located across the street from Idylwild Elementary School.  There is a small space for a vehicle to pull onto leaves to park.  There is also a mowed area in front of the trailhead where a vehicle or two can pull up on the curb to park.  The trailhead contains an informational kiosk with printed maps and a picnic table.

Orange Trail

Trail Length: 0.1 miles

Steepest slope: 1%

Total elevation gain: 5 feet

The Orange Trail leads trail users into the preserve under a mixed canopy of hardwood trees.  The surface is dirt and leaves with very few small protruding roots.  As the trail ends, users can turn left onto the short Blue Trail that leads back to a smaller secondary trailhead in the Idylwild neighborhood, or turn right onto the White loop trail and picnic area.

White Trail

Trail Length: 0.7 miles

Steepest slope: 1%

Total elevation gain: 12 feet

The White Trail is a loop trail that carries users through an upland hardwood forest with a variety of hardwood trees and towering Loblolly Pines. Sixty feet into the trail there is a picnic area with a picnic table. Shortly after the picnic area, users encounter the loop portion of the trail where they can choose to go left or right, eventually returning to the picnic area and exiting.

Blue Trail

Trail Length: 0.1 miles

Steepest slope: 1%

Total elevation gain: 3 feet

The Blue Trail begins at the end of SW 19th Way in the Idylwild neighborhood.  There is no parking. The trail is mostly dirt and leaves with a few patches of mowed grass.
