8th ANNUAL TREE FEST: DRINK 1 BEER, PLANT 4 TREES
ORGANIZERS HOPE TO FUND 100,000 LOCAL TREES FROM THIS YEAR’S EVENT
April 22nd, 2023
Gainesville, Fla. – (April 10, 2023) – On Saturday, Apr. 22nd, 2023, conservationists and craft beer enthusiasts alike can support our local landscape at the eighth annual Tree Fest, presented by Solar Impact and Swamp Head Brewery to support Alachua Conservation Trust by raising money to plant a lot of trees. The free event will be held at Swamp Head Brewery, 3650 SW 42nd Ave., from noon to 11p.m. From noon to 5pm, local environmental nonprofits and organizations will have informational booths set up on the lawn in front of the brewery. Also, there are family friendly activities and live bands. During the event, every beer purchase directly funds the planting of four trees in Alachua County. Purchases of food from Stubbies Sausages, Tommyknockers Mobile Kitchen, Germain’s, and Uppercrust food trucks and t-shirts will also benefit the trees. Tree Fest's "drink one beer, plant four trees" model raised enough money in its first seven years to plant 584,379 trees. This year, event organizers and sponsors have an ambitious goal to fund 100,000 trees. Special thanks to our major sponsors, Marty Tod Westwood Solar, Audi Gainesville, Partners Insurance Agency, Rembert Family Foundation, Sexton & Schnoll, UBS, and Lake Area McDonalds for kickstarting our journey to achieving that goal. Through a partnership with the Alachua Conservation Trust, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the natural, historic, scenic, and recreational resources in and around North Central Florida, all of the money raised during Tree Fest will directly fund the planting of one-year-old native longleaf pines at the Little Orange Creek Preserve in Hawthorne, FL. “We are very excited to present this Earth Day event. Tree Fest has grown to become the premier environmental celebration in town. Over 1,500 people attended in 2022 — it’s clear Gainesville likes beer and trees,” said Elaine Jacobson, co-founder of Solar Impact, and event team member for Tree Fest.
