Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT) to Host CrEEK Family Fest on Tuscawilla Preserve
May 21st, 2024
Micanopy, Florida - Join ACT on June 1st for CrEEK Family Fest! Kick off summer with bird watching, aquatic insect identification, and spider hunting; along with local conservation organizations, water games and activities, arts and crafts, and live animal ambassadors! In between activities, take time to walk along the trail to explore Tuscawilla Preserve which includes a prairie and adjacent uplands with small creeks and mesic forests. Lake Tuscawilla contains open water during periods of high to moderate water levels and can be almost completely dry during prolonged droughts.
"ACT's Creekside Environmental Ed for Kids Program has worked to provide fun, free environmental education field trips to schools since 2016. We're excited to host our first event open to the public, to bring the same engaging learning to families and the community through Creek Family Fest!" says Keara Clancy CrEEK Program Coordinator. Make sure you grab a snow cone from Wild Arctic Ice and wear clothes you can get wet in! Special thanks to Royal Restrooms for providing restrooms for this event.
The event is at Tuscawilla Preserve which can be found at GPS coordinates: 29°30'08.4"N 82°16'11.2"W. Parking is available at the Micanopy Native American Heritage Park directly north from Tuscawilla Preserve.
Press are invited to attend these events. Members of the media, please get in touch with ACT at Info@AlachuaConservationTrust.org or (352) 373-1078 if you plan to attend.
