Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT) and The Lynx to Host Gainesville Reads Book Clubs at Bubbe’s Secret Garden.

September 11, 2024

Gainesville, Florida - Join ACT and The Lynx for the Gainesville Reads Book Club. There will be two sessions taking place; the first is on September 17th and the next is on September 23rd. These are separate reading events, so you can attend one or both! These sessions will be from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and no prior reading is required to join.

The reading sessions will focus on the book, The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet, written by award-winning journalist Jeff Goodell. It deals with the topic of climate change and how it affects our world through the force of heat. There will also be excerpts from other texts to complement the theme of the book. Make sure to take part in the Gainesville Reads Book Club events to engage with these readings and have a meaningful discussion about our future! All materials will be provided at the event and each event can stand alone without needing to attend both.

Gainesville Reads is a community reading festival presented by the Lynx that will take place throughout the month of September. ACT is thrilled to be one of the organizations working with The Lynx to help bring this festival to the Gainesville community.
