Alachua Conservation Trust and Partners to Celebrate Nature Day in May at Little Orange Creek Nature Park on May 7

Gainesville, Florida –  Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT), in partnership with Friends of Little Orange Creek, the Alachua County Library District and the City of Hawthorne, will celebrate Nature Day in May on May 7 at Little Orange Creek Nature Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This event will highlight the importance of both conservation and environmental education, and will also provide attendees with the opportunity to enjoy time outdoors. There will be a range of activities to partake in, including guided hikes, arts and crafts, live wildlife demonstrations, children’s activities and more. The event will also feature live performances from local bands The Front Porch Backsteppers and Clay Dixon & the Piccadillies. Cilantro Tacos food truck will have lunch options available for purchase.

Little Orange Creek Nature Park and Preserve encompasses nearly 2,900 acres of undeveloped land that was conserved through the partnerships between ACT, Alachua County, Friends of Little Orange Creek, Putnam Land Conservancy, Conservation Florida and the City of Hawthorne. The nature park features a playground, nature center and covered pavilion alongside its natural beauty.

“We are excited about getting back out there and celebrating spring, renewal and togetherness again,” said Randi Cameon, president of the Friends of Little Creek organization. “Donations are welcome to support our environmental education program and historical preservation project for the park. We hope you bring a blanket or lawn chair and come enjoy the park with us!”

Nature Day in May is free and open to the public. Little Orange Creek Nature Park is located 1.3 miles east of Hawthorne at 24115 SE Hawthorne Road on the south side of Highway 20.

This event is being sponsored by the Alachua County Library District, the City of Hawthorne, Sweetwater Branch Inn, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Gator Gobblers, Dragonfly Graphics and Frey Investment Properties.
